At the Gillion Academy for Academic Excellence, supported by the KennyMax Foundation, we strive to be everything to our students so that they can become everything. We challenge our students to embrace the concept of Academic Entrepreneurship where they develop and manage their academic path to success under the guidance and leadership of our professional mentors, teachers, role models and coaches.
For over 20 years, we have played a role in helping student-athletes excel academically as well as pursue scholarships for post-secondary education. It would not have been possible to achieve this goal over so many years without a strong dedication to our mission and a passion to give back and become the Community Assist leader. Even more important has been the support and philanthropy of the community at large to allow us to fulfill our mission.
Your generous gift, sponsorship, donation, or contribution, no matter the size, will affect the daily lives of our students that will be felt for years to come and is greatly appeciated.
Ways your contribution impacts the lives of our students:
CURRICULUM: Your generosity allows us to support families in getting access to online accredited education with licensed teachers as well as implement our Life Skills Program which includes financial literacy seminars, guest speakers, Book Club groups, college campus visits, and mentoring.
FACULTY AND STAFF: Your generosity allows our program to maintain an academic support staff with years of professional experience as teachers and senior administrators as well as coaches and trainers with DI and professional experience.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Your generosity allows us to ensure no child is left on the bench or shut out of the opportunity for a more modern and holistic approach to academics and excellence due to financial situation. Many families who found the public school system failing their student’s academic needs or financially shut out of private school opportunities have been able to get the education and support for success at the Gillion Academy through financial aid and scholarships. We boast an average school GPA of > 3.90 and more than half of our students are receiving financial aid or support.
BASKETBALL: We are the only academic basketball program in the DMV with Division 1 coaches and former players as well as professional player development coaches overseeing the training, coaching and recruitment of our student-athletes. Your generosity not only allows us to maintain a basketball leadership team responsible for over 200 athletes playing DI basketball and over 50 going on to play professionally, but also supports the team in playing in elite tournaments against national competition in front of college coaches as well as playing internationally against basktball academies in other countries as part of a cultural exchange.
